Judith is married to Gary Edwards, an engineering program manager on an air defense system. She is proud of his work on this vital system which successfully defended our troops from ballistic missile attack in Kuwait and Iraq. They share a passion for travel and for their nephews and niece. Judith is the oldest daughter of Joy Wells and the late Captain Errol Wells. Errol ran away to Canada when he was sixteen, not to evade the draft, but to join the Canadian Army, which was not as persnickety about proof of age. He later served in the United States Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard where he flew the P-51 Mustang, the F-84, and the C-119. He had a distinguished career with Capitol and United Airlines, retiring as a DC-8 Captain. She misses him very much. Judith’s mother was a nurse and an Eastern Airlines flight attendant before settling down to raise two daughters. She is a former Republican Precinct Chair and is very proud of her oldest daughter’s accomplishments and dedication to public service.
Judith and Gary spend a great deal of time with their two nephews and a niece. Abbey is a bright and energetic young lady who is a great volleyball player as well as a cheerleader. Brant is a talented musician and is one of the youngest trombone players in the Lamar High Band. Logan is a great fisherman and outdoorsman. His uncle was very pleased to be with him when he took his first buck this winter. His aunt has even tried some of the venison sausage! Logan and Abbey will both be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society this spring. Judith’s younger sister Lorre works for a well known auto manufacturer’s finance division and is an accomplished genealogist. Her older sister Carol is a teacher’s aide in the remote New Mexico town of Quemado. Judith is an inveterate joiner and organizer. She is a founding member of the Arlington Organic Gardening Club as well as a sparkplug in the Fort Worth Network for Executive Women. Judith has for a number of years mentored a young woman who was deemed very much at risk. She is pleased to see that this young woman has made a stable home for her infant daughter while she completed high school with honors and is now doing very well at Texas Woman’s University.
Judith has a number of other talents. She is an accomplished gardener and is certified by the State of Texas as a Master Composter. She has her father’s skills in the cockpit and is a very good pilot - she learned to fly in a classic Piper Super Cruiser. She is not quite as good at golf and earned a Dead Last trophy at a bar tournament! |
